FAIRFAX, VA – Siena Outdoor Track freshman
Stephanie Queiroz broke a five-year-old record as the program continued Spring 2023 action at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia Saturday evening.
The Danbury, Connecticut product ran a time of 11:16.79 in the women's 3,000 steeplechase to best the previous mark set by
Anya Schmitt back in 2019.
The Saints sent competitors to the meet for the first time ever to compete in the 800, 1,500, steeplechase, and 5,000.
Sophomore
Claire Gardner took seventh place in the women's 800 with a time of 2:13.51, while classmate
Chris Bertola logged a time of 1:55.03 in the men's race. Junior
Katharine Hesler also took part in the steeplechase with a time of 11:35.22, while sophomore
Nathaniel Sletten ran a time of 9:46.96 to finish ninth in the men's event.
Fifth year
Olivia Lomascolo (4:31.29) and senior
Delia McDade Clay (4:33.85) took third and sixth place, respectively, in the women's 1,500, while senior
Aidan Gillooley (3:51.98) took ninth in the men's race. Senior
Elaine Atanasova (17:11.50) led the way with a fourth-place finish in the women's 5,000, while classmate
Tommy Anderson (14:33.64) took 11
th in the men's race.
Siena's next outdoor track action will come on Friday, April 14 at the RPI Night Under The Lights in nearby Troy, New York.
