LOUDONVILLE, NY – The complete 31-game 2023-24 Siena Men's Basketball regular season schedule is now set following the announcement of the 20-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate Wednesday morning. Overall, the Saints are scheduled for 14 home dates this winter at MVP Arena for the first time in five seasons dating back to 2019-20.
Tip times for all 31 games, as well as the 2023-24 Siena Basketball promotional schedule, will be announced in the near future. Season tickets are on-sale now at
sienasaints.com/tickets, with individual game tickets scheduled to go on-sale in October.
The MAAC will once again follow a primarily Friday/Sunday league schedule meaning, combined with the non-conference slate, the Saints are set to have nine of their 14 home games contested on fan-friendly Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Siena's 14 games at MVP Arena include five Friday night contests and four Sunday afternoon dates.
The Saints will have no more than two consecutive home or away league games in MAAC action, and will alternate home and away matchups for the final seven games of the regular season. The squad will also have a pair of MAAC byes on Sunday, Jan. 7 and Friday, Feb. 23 as part of the uneven 11-team league composition.
Siena previously announced the squad's 11-game non-conference schedule last week, which features four home games, three road contests vs. Atlantic 10 foes, and three MTE games in the Sunshine Slam. The Saints are also set to rekindle their rivalries with the Albany Cup (home) and Br. Ed Coughlin Franciscan Cup (away) showdowns this season. Siena will tip off its 2023-24 season with an Opening Night matchup vs. Holy Cross on Monday, Nov. 6 at MVP Arena.
For the third straight season, the MAAC schedule commences with a pair of league tilts the first weekend of December in the midst of non-conference play, as the Saints look to get off to a quick early start to the program's 35
th MAAC season. Siena leads all MAAC programs with 61 regular season conference wins spanning the past five seasons. Overall, the Saints have captured at least a share of nine MAAC Regular Season Championships, and rank second all-time in conference history with six tournament titles. The program's 342 all-time regular season MAAC victories also rank second most in league history, despite Siena joining the conference eight years after four current league members.
The Saints tip off their league docket when they host Rider on Friday, Dec. 1 at MVP Arena. Factoring in the non-conference schedule, Siena will thus have a stretch where they play three of four at home to end November and open December. The lone road contest during that span will wrap up the conference-opening weekend with a trip to Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Dec. 3.
However, the Saints will finish 2023 and open 2024 with a stretch where they play four of five away from home, concluding with the annual Western New York trip Jan. 14-16. The only home game during that span will be when Siena resumes league action for good when they host Fairfield on Friday, Jan. 5 at MVP Arena.
The second half of January sees Quinnipiac (Friday, Jan. 19), Iona (Friday, Jan. 26), and Saint Peter's (Sunday, Jan. 28) all descend on the Capital Region, with a nearby road contest at I-87 rival Marist (Sunday, Jan. 21) mixed in. Perennial MAAC power and defending champion Iona is led by Tobin Anderson, who cut his coaching teeth as an assistant for the Saints from 2011-13.
The February and March dockets feature split home and away weekends for Siena, with their second and final league bye sprinkled in. However, the team will have four home games during a five-game stretch from Jan. 26 – Feb. 8. The Saints will host Mount St. Mary's (Sunday, Feb. 4), rival Marist (Thursday, Feb. 8), Canisius (Sunday, Feb. 18), Manhattan (Friday, Mar. 1), and Niagara for Senior Night (Thursday, Mar. 7) during the second half of its home MAAC slate. In road action, Siena heads to Rider (Friday, Feb. 2), Manhattan (Saturday, Feb. 10), Saint Peter's (Friday, Feb. 16), Fairfield (Sunday, Feb. 25), and Quinnipiac (Sunday, Mar. 3), before wrapping up regular season action with a showdown at Iona on Sunday, Mar. 9 in New Rochelle.
For the fifth consecutive year, the 2023-24 season will culminate the MAAC Championships from Tuesday, Mar. 12 to Saturday, Mar. 16 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Seeds 6-11 will begin play on Mar. 12, with the top-five seeds earning First Round byes. The top-two seeds will play their first MAAC Tournament game on Wednesday, Mar. 13, with seeds 3-4-5 opening on Thursday, Mar. 14.
