Backed by +3 rounds by Jillian Barend and Mackenzie Whitney, Siena Women's Golf concluded the first round of the Crusader Invitational presented by Cove Risk in first place out of 11 teams at +28 (308) at the par-70 Worcester Country Club in Worcester, MA on Monday. 
 
The three-over first rounds by Barend and Whitney put the duo in a share of first place through 18 holes. The pair each shot +1 on the front nine, and +2 on the back to hole out with a 73. Barend's round consisted of 13 pars and a birdie, while Whitney drained four birdies to go with seven par holes. 
 
Julia Kret played a fine round as well, shooting 10-over to share a tie of 14th. Classmate Chelsea Woods currently holds a share of 22nd at +12. 
 
Not counted towards Siena's team score, Emely Kintzel shot +14, and Isabella Silva came in at +16. 
 
The second and final round gets underway at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
