For the first time since capturing the MAAC championship in Spring 2014, Siena Women's Golf has earned a tournament win. Under first-year head coach
Noel Gebauer, the Saints claimed victory at the 11-team Crusader Invitational presented by Cove Risk after shooting +58, 618 over the two days to top second place Merrimack by two strokes.
The team's two-day score of 618 is the third-lowest 36-hole score in program history.
Siena entered the day with a four-stroke lead, and shot +30, 310 on Tuesday to hold on to the lead spot - edging out Merrimack, who shot +28 on Tuesday.
Mackenzie Whitney earned the individual title by three strokes after shooting +8, 148 - tying the eight-lowest 36-hole round in program history. She becomes the first solo tournament winner for the program since Sara Riso in 2019. The junior shot five-over on Tuesday, including two-over on a back nine in which she shot par on eight holes.
Jillian Barend finished in a tie for second with a two-round score of +11, 151 after finishing Tuesday's final round at +8.
Julia Kret notched a top-10 finish as well, coming in tied for seventh at +15, 155. The freshman had a five-stroke improvement from Monday, shooting +5 on Tuesday thanks to a +1 on the front nine.
Isabella Silva's 78 (+8) was a new single-round career best, and helped her finish in 24th at +24, 164 overall.
Emely Kintzel placed just behind her in a tie for 27th at +26 after shooting +12 on Tuesday.
Chelsea Woods rounded out the team's scoring at +29 overall to finish tied for 32nd in the 62-player field.
The Saints will look to use its fall-ending tournament win as momentum entering the Spring 2025 season.
