Saints Set For First Road Contest at Bryant

Siena Battles Bulldogs Friday Night in Rhode Island

SMITHFIELD, RI – Siena Basketball takes to the road for the first time during the 2024-25 season when the Saints battle Bryant Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Chase Athletic Center.

Jon Wallach and Mason Stalph have the call of the game on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. Thomas Zinzarella and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Siena looks to build off an exciting start to the Gerry McNamara Era, following a thrilling 72-71 season-opening overtime victory over Brown Monday night at MVP Arena. The Saints rallied from six-down with 1:41 to go – and a five-point deficit in the final minute – to make a winner of the Syracuse legend and 2003 National Champion in his head coaching debut. Now the new-look Siena squad – which features 12 newcomers – will look to continue to gel in its first road test of the season.

Bryant was also victorious on Opening Night, posting a 105-63 domination of Division III Dean at the Chace Athletic Center. A 20-game winner a year ago, the Bulldogs were predicted to finish third of nine teams according to the America East Preseason Poll. A First Team All-Conference selection last season, Earl Timberlake was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.

Siena and Bryant meet for just the fourth time, all within the past nine seasons. The Saints captured both previous meetings in Rhode Island as part of tournaments (2015, 2017), winning by identical 19-point margins. Siena is 5-10 all-time in the Ocean State, with all five wins coming as part of tournaments.

The Bulldogs prevailed 67-51 last Dec. 6 in Albany to tip off the home-and-home series. Bryant shot 53% in the second half to take the win behind 20 points and six blocks from Daniel Rivera. The Saints shot just 27% from the floor including only 1-17 from three in the defeat.
