SAVANNAH, GA – Siena Men's Golf kicked off the road to defend its MAAC title by beginning Spring 2024 action in Georgia on Saturday, the Saints played to ninth place at The Savannah Intercollegiate at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia.
The Saints followed up a round of +12, 300 with a round of +2, 290 to finish the day at +12, 590 in ninth place out of the 13-team field. North Alabama (-13, 563) leads the field after day one of competition, while MAAC counterpart Iona (+2, 578) is fifth.
Fifth year
Matthew Ferrari led the way with rounds of +1, 73 and -5, 68 on the par-72, 7,084 course to tie for seventh place individually. Classmate
Nolan Crowley logged identical rounds of +1, 73 to finished in a crowded tie for 22
nd place individually.
Junior
Dan Brooks (79-74) joined sophomore
Austin Giroux (75-78) in shooting +9, 153 to tie for 61
st, while freshman
Michael McConie wrapped the team's five-man competition squad with rounds of 81 and 75 to tie for 72
nd at +12, 156.
Competing as an individual, freshman
Gavin Crowley carded rounds of 78 and 81 to finish with +15, 159 in 79
th.
Siena will wrap The Savannah Intercollegiate with one final round of action on Sunday, February 18 with a shotgun start beginning at 8 AM.
