Box Score PRINCETON, NJ – Siena Water Polo endured an early morning battle to conclude weekend action at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday morning. The Saints (3-4) battled but ultimately fell in a 9-8 decision to Bucknell at the DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, New Jersey.
Following matchups against a pair of ranked opponents on Saturday, the Green and Gold held an early 4-3 deficit before Bucknell rattled off three straight goals to take a 7-3 lead just after the half. The Saints used two straight scores to begin the fourth quarter to come within a goal, but a Bison score 1:35 remaining in the game sealed the way to Bucknell's second win over the Saints this season.
Following a hat trick yesterday, freshman
Rebecca Currie led the way with two goals in the first quarter and another pair of scores in the fourth. Classmate
Catherine Williamson also recorded a multi-goal outing, while freshmen
Quincy Frommelt and
Lucia Fernandez Caballero each scored once. Fernandez Caballero also chimed in seven steals, while
Parker Thomas had four. Goalkeepers
Caroline Behr and
Maggie Frye split time in-net, with Behr making three saves and Frye recording six.
Siena will continue non-conference tournament action next weekend at the Harvard Invitational, with matches scheduled against Mercyhurst, #18 UC Davis, and Santa Clara.
