OCEAN VIEW, NJ – Siena Men's Golf went head-to-head with a pair of MAAC foes to kick off Atlantic City Match Play hosted by Iona at the Shore Gate Golf Club in Ocean View, New Jersey on Saturday. The Saints took a 5-0-1 win over Saint Peter's before falling, 4-2, to Fairfield.
The Green and Gold saw five of six competitors win head-to-head matches over the Peacocks, with
Matthew Ferrari and
Austin Giroux doing so by seven and six strokes, respectively.
Dan Brooks and
Nolan Crowley won by three strokes, while
Nick Lyons held a two-stroke advantage and
Michael McConie played to a tie.
Siena then faced Fairfield in the semifinals on the par-72, 6,824-yard course. Giroux again edged out a win to the tune of four strokes, while McConie held a three-stroke advantage in his matchup. Brooks fell by five strokes, while Ferrari was defeated by four strokes, and Lyons and Crowley each fell by two strokes.
The Saints will close out the two day event on Sunday, April 7 at 9 AM when they battle to finish in third place.
