There will be another representative from the Siena Men's Golf team in next month's showcase of the world's best junior golfers in the U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championships.
Make room for K.C. Nickel.
Saints golf coach Steve Jensen confirmed that incoming freshman Nickel would also be joining MAAC Rookie of the Year and MAAC Champion
Michael McConie at the event that runs from July 22-27 at the famed Oakland Hills CC in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Nickel had dropped a 4-1 playoff for the last spot to Charlie Gilligan, but Gilligan's scorecard was found to have been in error.
Nickel, a resident of Waunakee, Wisc. proceeded to win a playoff over Sam Carraher on the next hole at the Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove to qualify for first-alternate status in the Junior Am.
Nickel, who had formally signed back on April 8 to become a Saint this fall, is in the midst of a highly memorable week after sinking a deciding putt for Waunakee on the final hole to lift his high school team to the WIAA Division I state boys' championship. It was the school's first title.
