LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Men's Golf opens its fall slate this weekend at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate in Kensington, CT, in what will be the early stages of a quest for a MAAC three-peat. The two-day outing from Saturday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 22 will be hosted by Shuttle Meadow Country Club.
Live scoring for the tournament can be found through the
Ryan T. Lee Memorial website.
Five members of last season's MAAC title team return to action, including reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year
Michael McConie - who also earned All-MAAC accolades following a second place finish at the 2024 MAAC Championships. Along with McConie, five-man regulars
Dan Brooks, and
Austin Giroux return to the group to pair with
Nick Lyons and
Gavin Crowley.
The Saints placed third out of 17 teams last fall at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial, shooting -3 through the two-day, 36-hole tournament. Giroux was the top finisher among the team's 2024-25 returners after shooting -1 to place 14th. McConie (27th, +3) and Brooks (36th, +5) also turned in solid individual finishes in the 90-player field.
While at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial, Siena has produced three of the top-five lowest rounds in program history (a second round 274 in 2022, a second round 277 in 2023, and a first round 278 in 2022). Two of the program's top-five lowest 36-hole outings have come at the tournament as well, including the program record 552 (-16) during Fall 2022.
Last fall, the team shot its second and third lowest rounds in program history (277 at the Shark Invitational, and 278 at the Cornell Invitational). The Saints also posted the second-lowest 36-hole score in program history (-6 at the Cornell invitational), and third-lowest scoring average (296.90) in program history.
Low rounds were a common theme for the Saints last season as well. The team posted the program's lowest round vs. par with a -12 showing at The Murray Cup, and three of the top-five lowest rounds overall - 276 at The Murray Cup, 277 in the aforementioned second round of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate, and 278 in the second round of the Cornell Invitational.
The Saints' other four outings this fall will consist of the three-day UConn Invitational (Sept. 29-Oct. 1), the Matthews Auto Collegiate hosted by Binghamton (Oct. 6-7), the annual Murray Cup against St. Bonaventure on Oct. 8, and the Lehigh Invitational (Oct. 19-20).
Siena will gear up for its next outing at the UConn Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played from September 29-October 1 at GreatHorse Country Club in Hampden, MA.
