Men’s Lacrosse Tapped as MAAC Preseason Favorites in Coaches’ Poll

Two Saints Make MAAC All-Preseason Team

LOUDONVILLE, NY – For a second consecutive season, the Siena Men's Lacrosse team was tabbed as the preseason favorites by the narrowest of margins in the 2025 MAAC Preseason Polls as voted on by the conference head coaches, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.

The Saints, off the heels of at least reaching the MAAC Semifinals in three consecutive seasons, were selected by a margin of one vote over defending MAAC Champions Sacred Heart 75-74.

In a narrow poll, the Pioneers received six first-place votes while the Saints earned three first-place designations.

Followed closely behind was Marist in third place with 62 votes followed by Quinnipiac in fourth place with 56 votes and Manhattan closed out the top-five with 43 votes.

Rounding out the top-nine were Canisius (34), Mount St. Mary's (26), new MAAC member Merrimac (25) and Iona (10), who will be fielding a men's lacrosse team for the first time in program history.

Siena received voting for two student-athletes onto the Preseason All-MAAC team with both coming from the attack position as Caden Olmstead and Pratt Reynolds secured spots on the 13-member team.

Reynolds, a senior from Manlius, NY, broke the 100-career goal mark last season and led the Saints in goals with a career-best 45 on the season.

Olmstead, a junior from Binghamton, NY, had a breakthrough campaign, racking up 41 goals and 12 assists in his first full season wearing the Green and Gold after not appearing in any games in his freshman season.

The Saints are coming off a season in which it went 8-8 overall including 5-4 in conference play. Siena's postseason run included a 12-9 victory at No. 4 Marist before a defeat versus No. 1 seed and eventual MAAC Champions Sacred Heart (RV) in the MAAC Semifinals in Riverdale, NY.

The first face-off to kick off the season will be Saturday, February 8 when the Saints host Boston University for the first time in program history at Hickey Field at 1 p.m. on Siena All-Access.
