What a Day to be a Saint

Three Men’s Cross Country runners Named to All-Championship Team; One Named to All-Rookie Team

The Siena Men's Cross Country team laid it all on the line in an effort that secured them four spots between the MAAC All-Championship Team and MAAC All-Rookie team in Saturday's MAAC Cross Country Championships 8K race at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, NY.

Leading the way was graduate student Jackson Cayward, who finished 11th overall with a time of 24:28.9.

Following closely behind was fifth year Luke Tkaczyk, who placed 14th overall after clocking in at 24:43.8 and then junior Colin Brunelle, who checked in 15th with a time of 24:44.2.

All received All-MAAC Championship Team nods for their top performances. Tkaczyk and Brunelle's times were personal bests.

Senior Tyler Greene narrowly missed out on an All-MAAC selection with a strong showing and time of 24:48.0.

The Saints were represented on the MAAC All-Rookie Team as well with freshman Max Decker clocking in at 25:29.9 to make the squad. It was a personal best for Decker.

Overall, the Siena Men finished second with a score of 67, its best mark since the 2022 MAAC Cross Country Championships that were run at the Crossings of Colonie with a score of 61 points.

Iona captured its NCAA record 35th straight MAAC Championship and 40th overall crown since the MAAC's inaugural title in 1981.

Leading the Gaels was 2025 Men's Outstanding Runner and individual champion Matt Rankin with finished in 24:11.8.

In the women's 6K race, Siena finished 10th overall with a score of 242. Top Saints finishers included junior Faith Skowvron (31st overall with a time of 22:15.7), senior Mattingly O'Rourke (38th; 22:22.6), senior Julianna Tourangeau (64th; 23:18.0), senior Kate DeForest (69th; 23:25.8) and freshman Brooke Gabriel (72nd; 23:30.0). Skowvron and Gabriel each ran personal best times.

Quinnipiac won its program's fifth overall title and fourth consecutive while Hannah Snayd of Fairfield defended her individual crown by shaving off nearly 32 seconds off last years' time with a 20:04.8.
