LOUDONVILLE, NY - Two-time defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champion Siena Men's Golf embarks on a third consecutive league championships this week when the Saints travel to Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL, for the 2025 MAAC Championships held from April 17-19.
Siena's recent two league titles has brought the program total to six, while head coach
Steven Jensen has been at the helm for the last three (2016, 2023-24).
Upperclassmen
Dan Brooks,
Nick Lyons, and
Austin Giroux have been cornerstones to the recent success of the program. Giroux, an All-MAAC Second Team selection, has enjoyed a pair of top-three finishes this season, and held a 75.6 scoring average entering the Shark Invitational. Brooks (77.7 scoring average over 20 rounds prior to the Shark Invitational) and Lyons (77.1 scoring average over 18 rounds prior to the Shark Invitational) also eye a third title with the Saints.
The 2024 MAAC runner-up and Rookie of the Year
Michael McConie was recently announced as an All-MAAC Second Team selection along with teammate Giroux. The sophomore has two top-three finishes this year, including a second place finish at the Lehigh Invitational in October. He held a 75.2 scoring average through 20 rounds prior to the Shark Invitational, and a 1,347 national ranking.
Named for its magnolia trees, the course features elevated tees, spacious greens and challenging water hazards. Wide fairways invite players to hit the ball and hit it long, while 11 of the 18 holes boast water hazards and dozens of sand bunkers dot the landscape. This course was extensively reimagined in 2023. With its newly-elevated design and innovative layout, new teeing grounds, redesigned greenside and fairway bunkers, as well as newly re-contoured Bermuda grass greens that offer fast and true putting surfaces.
