Coming from behind down the stretch, senior
Claire Gardner became an individual double MAAC Champion by winning the women's 1500-meter on Sunday at the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship after winning the 800-meter event at the MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in February.
The Chestnut Ridge, NY native ran a time of 4:42.57, beating out teammate and senior
Keira Flaherty by 0.57 seconds at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ on the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex.
Chloe Poulos (4:58.17) finished in 12
th place for Siena. Gardner's time nearly four and a half seconds better than her qualifying time that she recorded just a day earlier on day one.
In the Saints' best contested event – the women's 800-meter –
Mattingly O'Rourke made the podium after a third-place finish by clocking in at 2:16.30, roughly the same time she ran just a day earlier at 2:16.22 to qualify.
Jennifer McClintock was fourth at 2:16.79 while Flaherty was seventh at a time of 2:17.96 and Gardner closed out in eighth place at 2:19.49.
In the men's 1,500-meter,
Killian McNamee narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place spot at 3:55.31, shaving off about nine seconds off his qualifying time and
Jackson Cayward was ninth place (4:00.88) with a time about three and a half seconds faster than his previous time.
In the women's 4x400-meter race,
Sara Fitzgerald,
Katie Hayes,
Izzy McNamee and
Faith Skowvron ran it in 4:16.17 for a 10
th place finish.
Among the six Saints who competed in the men's 5,000-meter,
Christopher DeForest had the top finish with a time of 15:00.04 for fifth place. Siena grouped together in a tight pack, finishing in eighth, ninth, 10
th and 12
th with
Collin Brown (15:06.27),
Collin Clinton (15:08.49),
Colin Brunelle (15:20.86) and
Noah Greski (15:27.90).
Jake Passalugo closed in 17:01.51.

The Siena Women's team that consisted of Flaherty, McClintock, Gardner and O'Rourke finished in fourth place to earn five points with a time of 9:23.07.
The Siena Men team, comprised of
Marcus Homa,
Jackson Cayward, P.J. Dauer and
Tyler Tkaczyk, were eighth in the 4x800 with a time of 8:08.31.
