Kelly O'Donnell and former Saint Caitlin Wania '23 have the call of the first of five regular season
Siena Women's Soccer ESPN+ broadcasts this fall.
Siena (2-1-1) has made the most of a favorable early season home schedule so far, playing to an undefeated mark through their first three matches on Hickey Field, while outscoring the opposition by a 5-2 margin. The Saints only setback to date came in their only contest outside the Capital Region against then top-ranked North Carolina, a matchup where Siena played the defending National Champions to a one-goal match through the first 63 minutes.
The Saints have been paced offensively in the early going by
Briana Neary and
Cate Flanagan who have combined to factor in the scoring on four of the team's first five goals this season. The sophomore striker Neary has already doubled her scoring output from all of last season with a team-high six points thus far, while the senior captain Flanagan has already registered a career-best and conference-leading four assists.
Defensively, sophomore
Cate Burns has started the first four games in goal while allowing just a pair of scores outside the matchup against the Tar Heels.
Le Moyne (0-4) was predicted to finish ninth (12 teams) according to the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll after posting a 2-15-2 overall mark including a 1-7-2 league ledger last fall. The Dolphins have dropped each of their first four matches – all of which have come on the road – by just a single goal apiece. Le Moyne will play each of its ensuing four contests on Ted Grant Field.
Siena and Le Moyne met for the first time in 40 years last season, with the Saints securing a 3-1 victory 364 days ago last Aug. 29 in Central New York. Siena scored all three of its goals spanning a 7:46 flurry midway through the first half, with
Catherine Rogers factoring in all of the scoring with a pair of goals and an assist. The Dolphins captured each of the first three matchups between the programs from 1982-84.
Thursday's matchup concludes a season-opening stretch where Siena plays four of its first five within the friendly confines of Hickey Field. The Saints will play three of their next four on the road, which includes the final two non-conference contests and first pair of MAAC tilts.
