Men’s Soccer Set to Host FDU in Home Opener

Saints and Knights Meet Wednesday Evening on Hickey Field

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Home sweet home. Following three road matches to open the 2025 season, Siena Men's Soccer makes its long-awaited home opener Wednesday, Sept. 3, against the FDU Knights. Kickoff from Hickey Field is set for 5 p.m.

Brett Bosley and Joe Lemery have the call of the first of five regular season Siena Men's Soccer ESPN+ broadcasts this fall.

Of Siena's (1-2) three consecutive road matches to open the 2025 season, two were represented on the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Saints opened the year with a test at preseason #8 Massachusetts and battled the Minutemen to a 3-2 loss, while the Green and Gold recently made the program's first trip to the State of Oregon for the first time since 2011 to take on a Portland team that garnered a pair of votes in the latest poll. Additionally, Siena downed Boston College between those two matches to give the program its first win over a Power Conference team since the 2014 season.

Hickey Field has proven to be a tough place for opponents to play during the regular season over the last two seasons. Since Sept. 23, 2023, the Saints are 8-0-4 in home regular season matches, having not lost a regular season contest on Hickey Field since Sept. 1, 2023. In those 12 matches, Siena has out-scored opponents 22-7.

Campbell Stalker, who missed his freshman season, has already made a significant impact this year. The sophomore is responsible for three of the team's five total goals through three outings and has done so on just five total attempts. As of Sept. 2, Stalker is one of 36 players nationally with at least three goals through the early season and among the top 50 in the country, averaging at least one goal per match. Additionally, freshman Martin Piedeleu has assisted on two of Siena's five goals this season, and he is one of five players in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with multiple helpers thus far.

Having faced one of the toughest schedules in Division I so far, Bennet Glinder is tied for the MAAC lead, averaging 4.67 saves per match. Having logged all 270 minutes in goal, the junior owns a 2.67 goals against average and a .636 save percentage.

Winners of back-to-back matches, FDU enters Wednesday's contest 2-0-1 through the early season with a home draw with UAlbany, a home victory over NJIT, and a road win against Saint Peter's under its belt. After scoring one goal in each of its first two outings, the Knights doubled its scoring total with four against Saint Peter's on Aug. 30. Five different players have made up the team's six total goals, with Luke Ayaz being the lone multi-goal scorer with two so far. Matheua Franca has started each of FDU's three matches in goal, posting a 0.71 goals against average and a .778 save percentage across seven total saves. Jaymee Highcock leads the Knights in his second season at the helm after posting a 10-4-5 mark and leading the program to a Northeast Conference Championship game berth in his first season in 2024.

This will be the seventh all-time meeting between Siena and FDU, with the Knights holding a 5-1 edge in the series. The Saints' lone win happened to come in the last meeting between the programs 10 seasons ago on Sept. 22, 2015, in a thrilling 1-0 victory in Teaneck, NJ. Since meeting each year between 1986 and 1989, this will be just the third time the sides clash since 2013.

Following FDU, Siena remains home to host Northeastern at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
