Siena Women's Tennis junior Zaara Omar earned her first MAAC Tennis Player of the Week award on Wednesday.
 
The Castelldefels, Spain native clinched the winning point as the Saints rallied back for a 4-3 victory against LIU late Saturday night at Tri-City Fitness in Latham to help improve the Saints to a 2-0 record in 2025-2026. 
 
After dropping the opening set 2-6 to Sharks' junior Mia Tsoukalas, Omar responded with a pair of 7-6 wins [7-6 (3) in the deciding set].
 
In the deciding doubles match, Omar and fellow junior Andrea Vargas topped seniors Emma Barclay and Beatriz Verdial 6-4 to seal it.
 
Omar is now 2-0 in singles play (both from the singles No. 2 position) and 3-1 in doubles individual competition this season. 
 
The Saints will be back in action Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1:45 p.m. hosting Providence (1-0) at Tri-City Fitness in Latham.
