LOUDONVILLE, NY – In leading the Siena Women's Lacrosse team to a 10-6 season-opening victory over Hofstra,
McAllister Salter and
Avery Connolly were both acknowledged for their efforts by being named the MAAC's Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon in a conference vote by the school's sports information directors.
Salter, the sophomore goalkeeper who came on toward the second half of the season last year and held a 7-1 record, earned her first MAAC weekly award. The Tappan, NY native made seven saves on a .533 save percentage and scooped five ground balls in playing the entire game.Â
As for Connolly, she enters her redshirt freshman season after sitting out all of last year.
The attack from Niskayuna, NY native tallied a pair of goals on her two shots on goal in her career debut with the Saints.
Siena (1-0) returns to action this Friday, Feb. 13 when it plays at Binghamton (0-1) at 3 p.m. from Bearcats Sports Complex in Vestal.Â
