Vito DeBellis stayed steady in between the pipes this past week as the duo each earned MAAC weekly awards on Monday in a vote by the MAAC's sports information directors.
Banek, the New Hartford, NY native, earned his fifth MAAC Face Off Specialist of the Week award this season, 11
th of his career and 16
th overall MAAC weekly award. As of the latest update by the NCAA, Banek ranked second nationally in face off win percentage and sixth in ground balls per game.
Banek won 21 of 28 faceoffs (.750) with a team-high eight ground balls in Siena's 15-11 win against RV/RV Sacred Heart this past Saturday.
Banek ranks first in the MAAC in ground balls per game (7.50) and is also number one in faceoff percentage (.695) with 121 wins against just 53 losses.
DeBellis, a Yorktown Heights, NY native, earned his fourth MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor with a 13-save effort on a .542 save percentage. He added a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover as well.
DeBellis ranks first in the MAAC in goals-against-average at 10.08 per game, fourth in saves percentage (.533), and is ranked fifth in saves per game (10.25).
Siena Men's Lacrosse (10-2 overall, 6-0 MAAC) remained atop of the MAAC standings.
Siena is receiving votes in the latest KANE Men's Division I Media Poll and the USILA Coaches Media Poll and will return to the field Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. when it travels across town to play at RV/RV UAlbany (7-4) in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament Play-In Game.
