LOUDONVILLE, NY – New Siena Men's Basketball Head Coach
Nevada Smith has announced the addition of
Lawrence Rowley as an assistant coach. Rowley, who was an assistant for Princeton's 2023 Sweet 16 run, joins the Saints after spending this past season on staff at Air Force.
"We are excited to have Lawrence join our program," said Smith. "His energy and enthusiasm make him someone you want to be around every day. Lawrence does a great job day-to-day working with our players and staff, and his previous coaching experiences have prepared him to help us achieve our goals of winning a MAAC Championship and beyond."
Rowley arrives in Loudonville with five years of coaching experience including four at the Division I level. He previously served as an assistant at both Air Force (2025-26) and Princeton (2022-25), after beginning his career as a graduate assistant at Division III The College of New Jersey (2021-22).
"I am honored to be joining such an amazing community here at Siena," said Rowley. "Coach Smith is a high-level leader with an elite basketball mind, and I can't wait to get to work with him, our staff, and players."
During his lone season at the United States Air Force Academy, Rowley aided in the development of Kam Sanders who broke the program's freshman scoring record with 400 points.
Rowley matriculated to Colorado following a highly-successful three-season stint at Princeton, where he helped guide the Tigers to a 66-25 (.725) record highlighted by a pair of Ivy League Regular Season Titles (2023, 2024) and punctuated by the 2023 Ivy Tournament Championship and run to the Sweet 16. He worked closely with 2023 Ivy League Rookie and 2024 Player of the Year Caden Pierce, two-time First Team All-Ivy selection Xavian Lee, and future NBA player Tosan Evbuomwan.
A 2021 graduate of Emory University with his degree in economics, Rowley earned Emory Class of 2021 "100 Senior Honorary" acclaim, selected by the Alumni Association for leadership, academics, and community impact. Rowley starred for three seasons for the Eagles, graduating as the program's all-time leader in field goal percentage (.560), and ranks 10
th all-time in both rebounds per game and blocked shots per game. A native of Ypsilanti, Michigan, he averaged 13.9 points while ranking second in the conference in rebounding (8.6) his junior season, earning 2020 UAA Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors.
