Baltimore, Md. - The Siena women's swimming team finished in fourth place at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the Fitness and Aquatic Center at Loyola College.
The Rider Broncs won the overall competition, winning their first title with a score of 770 points. Defending champion Marist finished in second place with 749, followed by Loyola in third with 560 points. The Saints finished with 367.50 team points, ahead of St. Peter's (357.50), Iona (286), Niagara (283), Fairfield (170), Canisius (153) and Manhattan (78).
Kelly Pangburn (West Seneca, N.Y.) earned her second first place finish in the three day meet, winning the 1650 yard freestyle. The sophomore posted a time of 17:21.48 which was 17 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. In day one of the meet, Pangburn won her first individual title in the 500 yard freestyle in the second event of competition.
Siena's 400 yard freestyle relay team of Pangburn, Martha Kroll (Oxford, Conn.), Kelly Collins (Sparta, N.J.) and Grace Turman (Branford, Conn.) finished in third place in the final event of the meet. The team posted a time of 3:41.69, finishing behind Rider and Marist.
Martha Kroll turned in a solid day individually, finishing in third place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53.99. Kroll earned a fourth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle in day one, and a fifth place finish in the 200 yard backstroke in day two.
