Senior Mary Buckheit (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) hit her second career home run today in game one of a non-conference doubleheader with Colgate University at Siena Field today. Buckheit hit the long ball in the bottom of the fifth inning off Colgate starter Elena Issac. The co-captain Marketing and Management major went 3-for-4 in the first game.
The Saints (8-20) defeated the Red Raiders in the first game on a Sarah Rose (Loudon, N.H./Merrimack Valley) RBI-single that brought home Buckheit, who doubled to get on.
Senior Jodie Fiacco (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) cracked an RBI-single to score Carrie Getz (Slingerlands, N.Y./Bethlehem) in the third inning to put the Saints up by one. An RBI-double in the fourth and an RBI-single in the fifth, tied the game at two by Colgate.
In the second game, Emily Day's RBI-double provided the only run for the Saints. Fiacco scored the run. Colgate was able to plate three runs in the first, one in the second and one each in the fifth and six innings to win.
The Green and Gold return to Saints Field for another non-conference doubleheader with the Organgewomen of Syracuse University tomorrow, April 25th. The first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
