Box Score

The Siena softball team split a doubleheader with the Cornell Big Red at Saints Field today. The Green and Gold took the first game 3-2 and lost the second 4-0.

In the first game, Cornell's Annette Shepard hit a home run in the top of the third. Kate Varde hit an RBI-single in the sixth to put the Big Red up 2-0. But the Saints would battle back with Emily Day's (Lynn, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) two-run double in the bottom of the inning. Freshman Gretchen Gurr (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) had the game winning RBI when she singled in the deep right field to end the game.

The nightcap proved to be a tough one for the 2-14 Saints, unable to push a run across the plate despite seven solid innings of Tisha Salamino (Las Vegas, Nev./Durango). Salamino had three strikeouts on the day. Catcher Colleen Price (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) went 2-for-3 in the second game.
