Saints Snag Pair from Vermont

Freshman Sarah Rose (Loudon, N.H./Merrimack Valley) went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run on the day, as the Saints swept a non-conference doubleheader with the University of Vermont at Siena Field today. The Saints (11-23) won both contests 3-1.

Vermont scored in the second to take the lead, but Siena would bounce back to tie in the fourth on Christina Teator's (Castleton, N.Y./Maple Hill) RBI-single to score Mary Buckheit (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire). Then in the fifth, Rose's double scored Carrie Getz (Slingerlands, N.Y./Bethlehem) and Sara Prochnow (Reston, Vir./South Lakes).

In the second game, Kara Massey's RBI-single scored the only run for Vermont in the top of the second inning. Siena scored twice in the fouth on Teator's RBI-double, which brought home Rose and Jodie Fiacco (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott). Rose added an insurance run in the fifth, with her double plating Getz.

Tisha Salamino and Allison Clark combined to limit the Catamounts to four hits, and fanned five in the second game for Siena.

The Saints will travel to Brooklyn, New York to face the St. Francis College Terriers. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
