Softball Splits Two Games at Binghamton

April 18, 2006

Final Stats

Siena scored five runs in the first inning and added four in the second on its way to a 10-2 win in the first of two games at Binghamton Tuesday afternoon. The Bearcats won the second game 5-0.

Senior outfielder Christa Fasano and senior third baseman Alyson DeMarino each hit two-run doubles in the top of the first inning and senior designated hitter Alyson Campbell, who had a game-high three RBI, had a two-run double in the second inning.

DeMarino went 3-for-3 in the opener.

Binghamton made three consecutive miscues in the top of the third inning, leading to the Saints final run of the game. Vitello drilled a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 10-2 but the Saints were able to finish off the game in five innings. Tara Campbell and Renee Clavette did the job in the circle for the Saints. Campbell also drove in three runs.

Senior pitcher Katie Hansen fired a four-hit shutout, leading Binghamton to a 5-0 win in the second game.

Hansen struck out a season-high nine batters and retired seven of the last nine hitters. She issued five walks but allowed only one extra-base hit.

Junior first baseman Emilie Palmcrantz and freshman Sandy Meadows each had three hits in the second game. Meadows drove in a pair of runs as did senior shortstop Rose Barre.

Siena returns to action Thursday beginning a six-game homestand against Bucknell at 4 p.m.
