Final Stats
Ryan Marten and Andrew Mallory combined to throw nine innings of one run baseball, allowing only seven hits as Dartmouth topped Siena 7-1 in Loudonville Wednesday in a game that featured a five minute snow delay. Matt Gidaly's fifth inning homerun was the only run of the day for Siena which dropped to 5-18-1 on the season.
Dartmouth (7-10) scored three times in the second to take command of the game early off Siena starter Kevin Snyder. Jason McManis drove home two runs with a single to centerfield to highlight the rally. The Big Green pushed their lead to 6-0 in the fourth with another three-run frame. Tommy Myette delivered the big hit in the inning, a sharp single to right field with the bases loaded that scored two runs.
Andy Wells relieved Snyder and pitched two innings of shutout ball for Siena. Wells allowed a hit and a walk and struck out one batter. JJ Potrikus followed Wells and allowed one hit, fanning two in his one inning of work and Kevin Hawk pitched the seventh and eighth, allowing a single unearned run. Ryan King completed a strong performance by the Siena bullpen with a scoreless ninth. In total, Siena's bullpen did not allow an earned run in six innings of work.
Gidaly pumped some life into the Saints with a homerun to leftfield to start the fifth, but the Saints could never manage to put the big inning together.
Chris Klepps was the only Siena player with two hits. Will Bashelor, Damon Wright, Myette and McManis each had two hits for Dartmouth.
Marten started the game and threw five strong innings to pick up his first win of the year. Malloroy closed the door with four scoreless innings, sacrificing just two hits.
Siena returns to action at home this weekend in a key MAAC series. Siena (2-4 MAAC) and Saint Peter's (3-3 MAAC) will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon and a single game Sunday at noon.
