The University of San Diego softball team swept a doubleheader from Siena 8-0 and 4-0 Wednesday night in San Diego. Sophomore Jamie Piela pitched a complete game in the nightcap for the Saints, allowing just four hits.
The Toreros scored five runs in their first at bat of the first game to take control. Carey Casciola had three hits in the opener and scored two runs. USD added a run in the third and two in the sixth off Siena reliever Renee Clavette who allowed just two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work
Easton Henrikson and Stacey Landini picked up Siena's two hits.
In the second game, San Diego struck for a run in the second and three in the third to account for the only scoring in the game.
The Toreros only out-hit the Saints 4-3 as Piela kept things close throughout. Jennifer Granato and Stacey Sueda joined Piela with a hit for Siena.
Virginia Fritsch had two hits and an RBI in the win for San Diego.
The Saints close their West Coast swing with an 0-9 record.
