Julie Saporito had two hits in both halves of Saint Peter's doubleheader sweep of visiting Siena Saturday in Jersey City. The Peahens improved to 9-9 on the season. It marked the first league games for both schools. Andrea Piela had five hits on the afternoon in a losing effort for the Saints.

Andrea Piela had three of the Saints' 10 hits in the opener, and Siena took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Peahens rallied. Piela's sister Jamie had the big blow for the Saints, a two-run home run in the sixth inning that broke a 1-1 tie.

Saint Peter's broke through off Siena starter Lauren Shaheen in the sixth. Tricia Rangle doubled home a run and Meg Papierniak followed with a game-tying single. Jessica Gonazales put Saint Peter's on top with an RBI groundout and Christie Crowell added an insurance run with a two-out single to right.

Jamie Piela finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI for the Saints. Papierniak was the only Peahen with a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-3. Eight of Saint Peter's nine starters had a hit.

Siena took a 1-0 lead on Rachel Morales' squeeze bunt in the second inning of game two. It was the only run the Saints would score.

The Peahens tied the game on a solo home run off the bat of Gonzales in the bottom of the frame and took the lead for good on Kristen Kinneer's long ball in the third. Saporito doubled home one of two Saint Peter's runs in the fifth to complete the scoring.

Saint Peter's had seven hits and four runs (three earned) off Saints' starter Jamie Piela who pitched well and went the distance. Amber Phillips pitched six innings, allowing just the one unearned run to pick up the win.

Jennifer Granato and Renee Clavette joined Andrea Piela with two hit in a losing effort for Siena in the nightcap.

The Saints play a doubleheader at Manhattan on Sunday at noon.
