Final Stats
Chris Klepps, Moises Rivera and Michael Ambury all homered for Siena, but it wasn't enough to lead the Saints past BIG EAST foe Connecticut in Storrs Monday. Sophomore Erik Turgeon pitched five innings and allowed just one hit to pick up his first victory of the season in an 8-5 Huskies win.
UConn (19-20) led 8-1 after five innings of play, scoring three runs in the second and four in the fourth. Rivera's homerun in the fourth accounted for Siena's first run of the game.
Freshman Harold Brantley had two hits and three RBI for the Huskies during the stretch. Larry Day drove in two runs.
The Saints (4-26) rallied, scoring the game's final four runs. Rivera singled home the team's second run in the sixth inning and Ambury began a two-run seventh with a home run to right. Phil Cahill drove home Klepps with Siena's fourth run. Klepps homer in the top of the ninth made the score 8-5.
Siena received strong pitching from its bullpen. Craig Marcellus and James Pacifico combined to pitch 4.2 innings, allowing just one run and five hits.
The Saints return to action Thursday at home against Maine at 4 p.m.
