Final Stats
Cornell opened its home season with a 4-1 win over Siena on Wednesday afternoon. Game two of the double header was cancelled after the first inning due to rain. Cornell moves to 22-7 for the season, Siena falls to 3-13.
Cornell struck for all four of its runs in its first at bat of the day. Jenna Campagnolo's bases loaded single scored the first two runs and sophomore Meg Risica drove in two more with a single that put Cornell up 4-0 after the first inning.
Siena notched its only run of the game with three singles in the top of the third inning. Jennifer Granato singled home Rachelle Morales with the Saints only run.
Morales and catcher Andrea Piela each had two hits for the Saints.
Jenn Meunier struck out eight batters earning the win for the Big Red. The junior moves to 13-3 for the season. Jmaie Piela suffered the loss for Siena pitching five innings and allowing just the four first inning runs.
The second game was called due to rain in the top of the second inning with Cornell leading 4-1.
Cornell will be back in action this weekend at home at the Niemand-Robinson Softball Field. The Saints game versus Vermont scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed.
