Final Stats
Freshman Olivia Calcagnini cleared the bases with an opposite field triple in the first inning, providing the Saints with a lead they would not relinquish in a 6-2 triumph over visiting Colgate in Loudonville Wednesday. Junior Jamie Piela picked up the complete game win in the circle, scattering 11 hits and four walks over her seven innings of work.
Senior standout Jennifer Granato blasted her ninth home run of the season, and 33rd of her record-breaking career, in the fifth inning. The shot gave the Saints some breathing room after Colgate (7-17) closed to 3-2 in LaPorscha Albert's third inning home run.
Siena (13-26) closed out the scoring with two runs in the sixth, the first on pinch hitter Kat Seeber's ground out and the second on Andrea Piela's double to right center field.
Calcagnini, Granato and Andrea Piela each posted two hit games for the Saints.
Tiana Tyeskey and Jessica Sabo led Colgate's offense with three hits a piece. The Raiders out-hit the Saints 11-10 and neither team committed an error.
Siena returns to action this weekend for home games with Manhattan - Saturday at 1 p.m. and Niagara - Sunday at noon.
