UAlbany Rallies Past Siena Softball

April 29, 2008

Final Stats

Siena lost a non-conference softball game at UAlbany 7-3 this afternoon. The game was moved from Siena to UAlbany due to poor field conditions and changed from a doubleheader to a single game.

Siena held a 2-0 lead following a Jennifer Granato solo home run in the first and an RBI single by Granato in the third. The Great Danes tied the game with a pair of runs in the fourth on Nicole Kothe's two-RBI triple.

Megan Butsch and Gina Mason connected on back-to-back homers to break the game open in the fifth. Butsch launched a three-run shot to left field and Mason followed with a solo blast to left center.

Jenny McNulty reached on a bunt single and stole home to get a run back for the Saints in the bottom of the fifth, but UAlbany worked out of further trouble stranding two runners.

The Great Danes scored their seventh and final run in the seventh on Kat Smith's RBI safety.

Granato and Lauren Weingart each had two hits for Siena which lost its fourth straight game. Amber Maisonet led UAlbany's eight-hit attack with two hits from the leadoff spot in the order.
