Lauren Weingart homered and drove in three runs in support of starter Jamie Piela who went the distance allowing just one earned run as Siena snapped an eight game losing streak with a 6-2 win in the front end of its doubleheader at Army Wednesday evening. The Black Knights rallied to take game two 2-0.

Weingart and Jennifer Granato each had two hits and two runs scored in the first game.

Siena jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the third. The Black Knights inched closer with single runs in the fifth and sixth, but the Saints put the game away with two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Piela allowed six hits, one earned run and did not walk a batter in seven innings of work. She also tallied three strikeouts and was 1-for-4 with an RBI at the plate.

Army starter Veronica Barth pitched a six-hit shutout in the night cap. The Black Knights broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fifth and added an insurance score in the sixth of Saints' starter Lauren Shaheen.

Shaheen allowed just one earned run and six hits while striking out four in her six innings in the circle. Jenny McNulty posted two hits in defeat for the Saints.

Jessica Garcia was 3-for-3 to lead the Black Knights' offense.

Siena returns to action at Rider Saturday.
