Final Stats

Siena gave up five runs in the first inning and was never able to recover as West Virginia defeated the Saints 14-2 Sunday at Hawley Field and took three of the four games from Siena.

West Virginia (11-5) jumped on Saints' pitching early and never let up. The Mountaineers were led by Dan DiBartolomeo who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and was one of six West Virginia batters with a multi-hit game.

Mountaineers' starter Billy Gross (1-2) threw a complete game allowing just one earned run and striking out six on his way to picking up his first win of the season.

The entire Saints' offense came in the 5th inning on a solo home run by Juan Amador, his first of the season, and an RBI single from Kevin Quaranto. Siena had eight hits but left seven on base and grounded into four double plays to end any possible threats.

Siena (2-14) starter C.J. Sohl lasted just one inning giving up three earned runs. The Saints were forced to use four different pitchers throughout seven innings.

Siena will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Worcester, Mass., to take on Holy Cross at 3 p.m.
