Final Stats
Siena led the entire game as Jamie Piela allowed one run in four innings to help the Saints pick up their second win of the season by defeating Binghamton 7-2. Siena dropped their second game to St. Francis (Pa.) after giving up six runs in the first inning in the 11-5 loss.
In game one freshman Alyssa Sceppaguercio drove in two runs and Nastasha Powlowsky drew three of Siena's eight walks. The Saints led 2-1 after five and went on to put away Binghamton (2-8) with five runs in the final two innings, highlighted by Olivia Calcagnini's solo home run in the sixth.
Jamie Piela (1-3) threw four innings, giving up four hits and striking out three for her first win of the season. Amanda Filippazzo pitched three innings in relief allowing one unearned run and striking out three to pick up the save.
Cyrilla Suker took the loss for the Bearcats, giving up two runs and walking five in three innings.
In the second game St. Francis (12-14) put up six runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Red Flash had five different players drive in a run in the first, highlighted by Kelly Slingwine's RBI triple.
Courtney Brinkman answered back for Siena (2-8) with a two-run home run in the second to cut into the St. Francis lead but the Red Flash came right back, scoring two more runs in the third.
Lauren Weingart's two-run home run in the fifth pulled the Saints within four at 8-4 but that's as close as they would get.
Brinkman (0-2) lasted just three innings, giving up seven hits and eight runs (five earned).
Laura Caldwell pitched a complete game allowing five hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out seven for St. Francis. Raquel Rugani went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Kara Stoup added a two-run home run in her only at-bat.
The Saints will finish up their five-game trip to Baltimore tomorrow when they play MAAC rival Niagara at 8 a.m.
