Final Stats
Anthony Giansanti had three hits including a home run and drove in five runs to lift Siena past Hofstra Tuesday on Long Island. The Saints broke a 4-4 tie with five runs in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Hofstra took the early lead with two runs in the top of the second off Siena starter Nicco Stento. They were the only runs Stento would allow in his four innings of work. Before giving way to Dan Pendleton who picked up the first win of his collegiate career with three strong innings of relief. Dan Lazzaroni closed the game with two perfect innings to preserve the win.
Giansanti's home run highlighted a three-run sixth which gave the Saints a 4-2 lead. The Pride tied the game with two runs in the seventh, but the Saints scored six unanswered to close the game.
Dan Paolini, Kevin Quaranto, Brandon Curson and William Cardona each had two hits to join Giansanti with multi-hit games for the Saints.
Siena had lost 17 of 18 entering the game. The Saints open their home season against MAAC rival Manhattan this weekend.
