Final Stats
Siena out-hit Dartmouth 12-6 and led 6-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth but the Big Green scored five times in that inning to pull out an 8-6 win in Hanover Wednesday. Freshman William Cardona went 4-for-4 for the Saints.
Jason DeFilippo's double in the top of the third put the Saints (4-21) on the board first, but Dartmouth (6-9) quickly responded with a run in the home half of the frame to tie the game 1-1.
The Big Green scored twice in the fourth on back-to-back RBI singles to take a 3-1 lead.
The Saints then scored five unanswered runs to seize control. Dan Paolini singled home a run in the fifth and Kevin Quaranto followed with a two RBI double to cap off a three run rally. In the seventh, DeFilippo launched his first home run of the season - a solo shot with one out - and Quaranto later knocked home his third RBI of the game with a single to right center field.
Dartmouth took advantage of four walks and a big error to rally for five runs in the fifth. Only four of the tallies ended up being earned and the Big Green had just one hit in the inning.
Siena finished with five errors on the afternoon, nullifying an otherwise dominating effort on both sides of the field.
Paolini, DeFilippo and Quaranto each had two hits, joining Cardona with multi-hit games for the Saints.
C.J. Sohl started and tossed two perfect innings as did middle reliever Ryan Poplawski. Ace Craig Chaput threw a perfect seventh in preparation for his start Saturday at Saint Peter's.
