Courtney Brinkman allowed one earned run and Jessica Mushel hit the first home run of her collegiate career to lead the Saints to a 4-3 victory in game two of Wednesday's doubleheader against Army. In the opener, the Black Knights rallied to score four runs in the sixth for a 6-4 win.

In game one Lauren Weingart gave Siena (6-15) a 2-0 lead with a solo home run in the fourth, her third of the season, but Army (13-26) battled back to take the lead behind Rachael Duval's two-run home run to highlight their sixth inning rally.

The Saints cut the lead to two behind Renee Clavette's RBI single in the seventh but Shawna Bleyl struck out Stacie Sueda with the tying run at first to end the game and the Siena rally.

Alexis AuBuchon finished 3-for-4 and Bleyl (3-9) tossed a complete game allowing four runs (three earned) and striking out three to pick up the win for the Black Knights.

Weingart, Mushel, Brinkman and Nastasha Powlowsky each had two hits for the Saints and Amanda Filippazzo (2-6) allowed six runs (five earned) and struck out six in the loss.

In the nightcap Siena got out to a 1-0 lead on Olivia Calcagnini's RBI single in the first. Army tied it up with a run in the top of the second but the Saints came right back to take the lead after Mushel blasted a two-run home run to center.

Army cut the lead to one on AuBuchon's solo home run in the fifth and looked poised to tie it up in the sixth when they loaded the bases with one out but Brinkman forced two groundouts to get out of the jam.

After Sueda gave the Saints a two-run lead with an RBI groundout, the Black Knights picked up a run in the seventh but Brinkman got Jill Galloway to ground out to end the game with the tying run stranded at third.

Jenny McNulty went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and Sueda finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Brinkman (3-4) tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and three runs (one earned) to pick up her third win in her last four starts.

Angel Deger finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and Jessica Muckelroy (8-10) took the loss for the Black Knights while tossing a complete game giving up four runs and striking out five.

Siena returns to action tomorrow when they host Fairfield in MAAC action at Siena Field at 2 p.m.
