Final Stats Game 2
The Siena softball team scored three times in its final at bat Saturday to knock off host Coastal Carolina in its fourth game of the Chanticleers Invitational in Conway South Carolina. The Saints lost their first game of the day to St. John's, 5-2.
Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Saints scored three times to post an improbable comeback.
Lauren Weingart and Courtney Mahan singled to start the inning and Nastasha Powloski followed with a run scoring hit that brought Siena within a run. The Saints then took advantage of two passed balls and an error, and Powloski eventually crossed with the winning run, snapping an 11-game losing streak.
Weingart finished with two hits to lead the Saints and Courtney Brinkman was brilliant in the circle, delivering the Saints top pitching performance of the season in allowing just one earned run in seven innings of work.
St. John's toppled Siena 5-2 in the Saints' first game of the day. The Red Storm led 5-0 before Siena rallied mildly with two runs in its final at bat. Freshman phenom Shannon Jones had two hits to pace the Saints.
The Saints play their fifth and final game of the Torunament Sunday at 9 a.m. against Longwood.
