Siena Softball Splits with Manhattan

April 24, 2010

Final Stats

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena came from behind in the final two innings of game one to win 2-1, but were blown out 10-1 in the back end of the doubleheader by Manhattan Saturday afternoon.

Siena (9-32, 2-6) scored one run in the fifth inning to tie the game and scored the game winning run in the sixth. Lindsey McKeever delivered the winning run with an RBI double.

Amanda Fillipazzo (4-19) earned the win. She pitched seven innings and allowed one run on five hits.

Manhattan (16-18-1, 3-5) jumped all over the Saints in game two. The Jaspers strung together three hits and a walk in the first inning to score two runs. They added four in the second with the big blow, a three-run home run, coming off Jaci Rahey's bat.

Nastasha Powlowsky provided the only Siena offense as she wreaked havoc on the base path in the third inning. She singled to centerfield, then stole second and reached third on a wild pitch. Lauren Weingart drove her in with a single to left field.

But Manhattan scored two more runs in the fifth and the game was called.

Courtney Brinkman (5-6) took the loss in game two, allowing eight runs (five earned) in three innings. Fillipazzo gave up two runs in two innings of relief.

The Saints return to action on Tuesday when they host cross-town rival UAlbany in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
