LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Men's Soccer freshman goalkeeper Jack Binks has been tabbed the MAAC's Rookie of the Week. Binks anchored the Siena defense which shutout nationally ranked Iona Sunday for the team's first conference win.
A native of Darlington, England, Binks limited the MAAC's top two teams Iona and Fairfield to just a single goal in over 190 minutes action last weekend. He posted a 0.47 goals against average and saved 75% of the shots he faced.
Yesterday, he earned his third shutout of the season making two saves in the Saints' 1-0 double overtime win over 16th ranked Iona.
Of his three shutouts this season, two have come against nationally ranked teams as he also blanked then 15th ranked Ohio State Aug. 29 en route to being named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Binks, who has been impressive throughout his freshman campaign, stands second in the MAAC with a stellar 0.89 goals against average and has held the opposition to one goal or less in 10 of 12 games.
Binks and the Saints return to the pitch Friday when they travel to Manhattan for a 4 p.m. kickoff with the Jaspers.
