UCF Overpowers Siena Nine

Feb. 19, 2011

Final Stats

Sophomore D.J. Hicks drove in four runs, and helped UCF escape a fifth-inning jam on the mound in a 10-1 win over Siena Saturday. Hicks finished 2-for-4 with a three-run homer to right in the fourth, and also picked up the victory in relief.

Kevin Quaranto ran his hit streak to 25 games in the setback, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate. Sophomore Mike Fish also had two hits for the Saints.

It was the second time in his career that Hicks earned the win while also hitting a home run in the same game.

UCF's Beau Taylor singled in the sixth inning to extend his hitting streak to 23 games, which stands three shy of tying Mike Myers' school record (set in 2001).

Junior righty Matt Collins made his UCF debut and went 4.1 innings with just one run allowed, no walks and six strikeouts.

Justin Brantley started for the Saints and worked four innings allowing three earned runs.

Siena put runners at second and third with two outs in the first inning, but couldn't score.

The Saints try to avoid a series sweep in the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
