Box Score
Siena played .500 softball Sunday at Sacred Heart, eking out a 3-2 win in eight innings early but falling 3-2 in the day's second game. The Saints banged out 16 hits in the doubleheader, and moved to 9-12 on the season.
Down 2-1 in the seventh inning of the first game, Alyssa Sceppaguercio singled to lead off the frame before advancing to second on a Lindsey McKeever sacrifice. She then scored the tying run when Mandy Ferro reached base on an error.
The game went to extras, and pitcher Jessika - Jo Sandrini led off with a single. She was moved over when Sara Gallacchi grounded out to third, and scored when Kayla Kaminsky pinch-hit for Nastasha Powlowsky and singled to right field. Sandrini then threw a perfect eighth to finish off the complete-game gem, her sixth win of the season.
The nightcap featured a stellar 3-for-3 performance by Shannon Jones, who also drove in a run and had a run scored. However, it wasn't enough, as Sacred Heart's Jade Bowins tripled and scored on a throwing error. That proved to be the difference despite six strong innings from Amanda Filippazzo.
Siena returns to action at UAlbany on Thursday.
