Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score
Siena softball split the first of two weekend doubleheaders Saturday, winning one of two games at Manhattan. The Saints tied last year's win total with a 3-2 triumph in the opener before dropping a 13-1 decision in the second game.
Jessika - Jo Sandrini pitched a complete game for her eighth win of the season in the opener, and also opened the scoring by coming home on a Shannon Jones sacrifice fly in the first. After falling behind 2-1 in the third, Siena (14-19, 3-5 MAAC) rallied in their half of the fifth, recapturing the lead for good when Lindsey McKeever drove in two runs with a single to center.
Sandrini was sharp in the circle, allowing just five hits while striking out seven Manhattan hitters. She was also the only player on either team to record multiple hits in the day's first game, going 2-for-4.
The second game, however, was not as kind to the Green and Gold. Three Siena pitchers allowed 13 runs on 11 hits, with the only Siena offense coming on Samantha Ray's third-inning RBI single. Ray was a perfect 2-for-2, but the rest of the Saints managed just one hit between them in the loss.
Siena stays on the road Sunday, when they travel to Jersey City for a doubleheader at Saint Peter's.
