Final Stats
The Siena baseball team lost its eighth straight game Wednesday and 15th in 16 contests this season, an 11-4 rain-shortened, six-inning contest at Vanderbilt. The Saints head across the Volunteer State to play a three-game weekend set at Memphis starting Friday at 4 p.m.
For the second straight game Siena (1-15) took an early lead, striking for a run in the second when Ted Trymbiski doubled and scored on a wild pitch. Just like yesterday, the Commodores (7-10) answered decisively.
Vanderbilt scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-1 lead, and when Siena threatened to make it a game with three runs in the fifth, Vanderbilt scored once in the bottom of the inning and twice in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
John Rooney had two hits for Siena, including a two-run single in the fifth to lead the offense. Conrad Gregor, Connor Harrell and Riley Reynolds each had two hits for Vandy. Reynolds went deep, as did Vince Conde.
Siena's pitchers again struggled getting outs and finding the strikezone. Jim Meindl, C.J. Sohl and Andrew Sawyer combined for eight walks and four hit batters.
Vanderbilt used four pitchers in the six innings. Starter Jared Miller got the win, tossing three innings.
