Siena finished its spring break trip to Maryland Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Robert Morris. The Saints went 5-6 in their 11 games in Baltimore, and now stand at 6-9 overall.
Robert Morris jumped out to an early lead, scratching out a run in the first and adding two insurance scores in the third. Meanwhile, the Saints were held hitless until the fourth inning, unable to provide support for starter Jessika - Jo Sandrini.
The Saints did rally in the sixth, as Nastasha Powlowsky's two-out, bases-loaded single scored Mandy Ferro from third. Siena had a chance to continue the comeback, but Samantha Ray grounded out to end the threat, and the Saints went down in order in the seventh.
Shannon Jones was the only Saint with multiple hits on the day, going 2-for-3. Meanwhile, senior Amanda Filippazzo pitched well in relief, allowing just one hit over the last two innings.
Siena will return to action in a week and a half, when they take on Binghamton on March 27 in central New York.
