Jessika - Jo Sandrini channeled the form that put her in Siena's record books last year, but it wasn't enough, as the Saints dropped a 1-0 decision to George Washington Sunday. The game was the final one of the George Washington Tournament for the Saints, one they finished at 1-3.
Sandrini went the distance for Siena, allowing just five hits in seven strong innings while striking out six. However, three of those hits came in the fifth, as the Colonials struck for the game's lone run on a two-out single.
The Saints had their chances, but left the bases loaded in the fifth and left two runners on in the seventh. Junior Mandy Ferro and freshman Megan Volz led Siena with two hits apiece, while Sandrini went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Next up for the Saints is a week-long spring break trip to Baltimore. It kicks off on Saturday with games against Mount St. Mary's and UMBC.
