Final Stats
Siena pitchers combined to give up 22 runs, 34 hits, 12 walks, while only striking out two in the season opening sweep to East Tennessee State (12-5; 10-4).
In the season opener, the Saints (0-2) quickly fell behind 3-0 in the bottom of the first, after a two RBI single by Casey Horner.
The Saints would tie it up in the third when Stephanie Viggiano would connect on a two run single of her own, for her first hit of the season. Siena would get their first lead of the year in the next inning after a Buc's error plated the go ahead runs.
East Tennessee State (5-6) would then score the next nine runs of the game en route to a 12-5 victory.
The nightcap, was pitted in a tie going into the bottom of the second after Melanie Kalesse walked to drive in a run.
However, the Buc's would break the game open with a Sam Lower grand slam in the bottom half of the inning to give East Tennesse State a four run lead. The Bucs would score in every inning in the contest and eventually won the game 10-4.
Viggiano recorded three hits in her six at-bats while driving in three. Jessika - Jo Sandrini would also drive in a run, as well as her sister Jordan Sandrini for her first career run batted in.
Siena will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow as they take on the Bucs at 12 noon.
