Matt Gage Selected to Cape Cod All-Star Game

Rising junior Matt Gage has been selected to play in the annual Friendly's Cape Cod All-Star game at Red Wilson Field in South Yarmouth, Mass. tomorrow (Sat., July 27) at 4:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox College Sports Atlantic, and Gage will represent the East All-Stars.

Gage is 4-1 with a 3.12 ERA in six starts for the Chatham Anglers. The Anglers are 24-10-1 on the season and hold a 12-point lead in the East Division standings.

FOX College Sports Atlantic can be seen on Time Warner Cable Albany Channel 670 and DirecTV Channel 623.

Gage is not the only Saint making noise this summer.

Outfielder John Rooney (Syracuse, N.Y.) made the All-Star Team in the Coastal Plains League. Rooney, who plays for the Fayetteville SwampDogs, is fourth in the CPL with a .337 batting average (30-for-89). He has scored 19 runs and stolen seven bases.

Jim Meindl (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Tyler Martis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) each made the All-Star game in the Atlantic Coast Collegiate League. Martis is hitting .277 (26-for-94) in 31 games played, and Meindl owns a 1.97 ERA with15 strikeouts and two saves in 13.2 innings pitched (10 appearances) for the Jersey Pilots.

Dave Hoffmann (Niskayuna, N.Y.) participated in the Perfect Game All-Star game on Wednesday night. He is hitting .253 (21-for-83) in 26 games played for the Elmira Pioneers.
