Softball's Offense Comes Alive, But Drops Two

March 15, 2014

Box Score

Siena's offense came to life a day after recording only two hits in two games, but could not find the timely hits to bring home the victory. The Saints dropped a 2-0 decision of Bucknell and 7-0 to South Dakota.

Jessika-Jo Sandrini started in the circle, and pitched a complete game with three hits in six innings. Sandrini struck out seven while giving up two runs and four walks. Sandrini also singled in the fifth.

Junior Stephanie Viggiano led the Saints offensively with a perfect 3-3, with three singles. Alyssa Lancaster recorded a multi-hit game against Bucknell, with two singles.

Freshman Chelsey Drew earned two hit singles and a walk to help the Saints offense come to life.

Bucknell did their work in the first inning as they earned their two runs on two hits and their lock down defense prevented the Saints from getting the timely hit and secured the 2-0 shutout win.

In the second game of the day, the Saints dropped a 7-0 decision to South Dakota, as they were shutout for only the second time in the last ten games.

Softball completes the Rebel Spring Games tomorrow when they face Army at 9 a.m. and a rematch with South Dakota at 1 p.m.
